Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) claims to have foiled a plot to illegally purchase and export aircraft components intended to repair Ukrainian military planes and helicopters.
A spokesperson for the FSB claimed the agency had confiscated over 1,000 pieces of military equipment with a value of $117,000 and that documents showed the group was “organizing repair and restoration work” for Ukrainian military aircraft and helicopters,” The Russian News Agency, TASS reported.

The spokesperson said the group also specialized in smuggling military aviation supplies and equipment to Western European countries but didn’t specify which ones.
According to the FSB the perpetrators were, “a criminal group from among the natives of Ukraine and one of the [unnamed] Central Asia republics which had carried out, on an ongoing basis, the acquisition and the repair of components and assemblies of combat aircraft and helicopters in the Russian Federation, with the aim of their subsequent illegal export in the interests of foreign customers, including for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”
The defendants were taken into custody to appear before the Lefortovo District Court of Moscow.
