Serhiy Khlan, a local deputy of Kherson Regional Council said on August 22 that “Russian invaders are arranging a crossing using barges near the Antonivsky Bridge in Kherson.” Writing on Facebook on August 22.

In the post he added: “I wonder what kind of engineering construction the occupiers are arranging to replace the Antonivsky Bridge. Barges are being towed along the Dnipro; something is being installed. Will there be an official opening? Well, with fireworks. From the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”

In comment for Apostroph TV he noted that the invaders are pulling barges along the River Dnipro and “mounting something” from them – they are doing it right below the Antonivsky Bridge. He suggested that perhaps the barges are fixed to the piers of the bridge. However, at the bottom of the Dnipro there is a powerful current, and movement in this way along this structure, which they are mounting, is possible only for pedestrians, but not for equipment or even cars.

Khlan also reported that it was impossible to build a fully-fledged pontoon crossing in this location  – precisely because of the stream. Therefore, the enemy is moving equipment on sections of a pontoon, which they use as rafts moved with the help of powerful boats on the sides. However, with such logistics, it takes more than two hours to swim from one shore to another.

Ukraine - What Everyone Wants From a Peace Deal?

Trump tapped Marco Rubio as Secretary of State and Mike Waltz as his future National Security Adviser. Both are seen as relative hawks on Russia.

“Transportation of equipment in this mode does not cover the necessary needs on the right bank… because the Armed Forces destroy the enemy’s rear reserves every day,” Khlan reported.

He underlined that Russian occupiers had to replenish everything, including food supplies, for a huge number of Russian servicemen. Therefore, tactically, the enemy finds itself in a bad situation on the right bank of the Dnipro. According to the local deputy, since the Russian troops find themselves in a trap that is why they are looking for ways to escape and how to leave Kherson.

After another strike on the Antonivsky Bridge by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the families of Russian servicemen who were in the city at the time began to leave Kherson.

According to Serhiy Khlan, attempts by Russian invaders to find a smart solution to replace the destroyed Antonivsky Bridge are hopeless.
