The famous
Russian matchmaker for the rich is here on a mission.
“I’m in
Kyiv at the request of Kyiv oligarchs,” he says. “They’re so spoiled, they
can’t find a fiance in their own town. So they asked me for help.”

“I’ve
already noticed about five good women here today,” he boasts.
Listerman,
55, doesn’t really have to stalk women as much as one might think: they come to
him willingly, on their own initiative. While speaking to the Kyiv Post, he
grabs a hand of a tall young woman passing by.
“This one
is good,” he says. “We talked before, she says her name is Angel. What’s
‘angel’ in Ukrainian?”
The woman
answers with a flirt, showing no signs of embarrassment. Angel will be added to
Listerman’s database of women, but that wouldn’t guarantee her a rich husband.
The matchmaker says his database currently has 20,000 to 30,000 women, but only
50-60 of them are good enough to be offered to rich potential grooms with high
demands.
“I honestly
don’t know what to do with the rest of them,” Listerman says.
Listerman’s
services seem to be in demand in Ukraine. He claims he has 20-30 major
customers in Kyiv, and has already helped five or six couples in Ukraine to
meet and form a good relationship. His business requires that he come to Kyiv at least once a month.
He claims
there is no such thing as trends in the matchmaking business, and every client’s
requirements are individual. A woman’s hair color is something that never
matters, but general good looks are a must in all cases.

Right now,
Listerman says he’s looking hard for a bride for one particular Kyiv oligarch.
The requirements are rather strict. The woman must be between 25 and 30 years
old, her height within the range of 165 to 175 centimeters. She must be smart,
non-smoking and have two university diplomas. It is also required that she had
spent 5-7 years abroad.
Good luck
with that, Angel.
