Ukraine is planning to transport up to 2 million tonnes of vegetable oil through a pipeline to Poland’s Port of Gdańsk annually.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Minister Mykola Solskyi in an interview with Ukrinform, commenting on a memorandum on the construction of the relevant pipeline, which was signed by Ukrainian and Polish representatives during the 31st Economic Forum in Poland’s Karpacz.

“Its length will be 600 kilometers and capacity – up to 2 million tonnes of [vegetable] oil annually. The pipeline is expected to run from Volyn Region’s Yahodyn to Gdańsk,” Solskyi told.

In his words, the cost of construction works will be announced within the next two months. The final sum will greatly depend on a certain route and landscape, as well as approval documents.

According to Solskyi, there are different financing options for the vegetable oil pipeline. In September, EU Ministers for Agriculture will meet in Brussels, and this issue will be raised. Solskyi added it should be multisource financing.

A reminder that the Ukraine’s Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry, Infrastructure Ministry and Poland’s Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry, Infrastructure Ministry signed a quadrilateral memorandum on the construction of a cross-border pipeline used to transport Ukrainian-produced vegetable oil to the Port of Gdańsk.
