Ukrposhta, Ukraine’s state-owned postal service, would receive a license to sell medicine in a new program slated to start on Feb. 1 that aims to bring affordable medicine to liberated territories and frontline areas.
According to a press release by the Ministry for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories, Ukrposhta, a state-owned joint-stock company (JSC), would receive a license for the sale of medicinal products in existing stationary or mobile post offices.

Preparatory work is already underway, which involves opening a licensed warehouse in Kyiv and recruiting pharmacists as they are the only ones with the right to issue over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription drugs under the current legislation.
A hotline to process medicinal requests is also planned.
“Citizens are waiting for our decisions. Often, due to hostilities and constant enemy [bombardment], our people are deprived of access to the most necessary things, including medicine,” said Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk.
The ministry believes the program would be able to deliver affordable medicines to all Ukrainian territories in the first half of 2024.
Ukrposhta is one of the two major postal service providers in Ukraine alongside Nova Poshta, a private postal company.
