On Nov. 5, it was reported that Yuriy Glodan, a volunteer who lost his wife, daughter, and mother-in-law during a Russian missile attack in April 2022, had died while serving on the front lines.

Alexander Yakovenko, Yuriy's former colleague at a pastry shop in Odesa, reported the news on his Facebook page.

"It was [Yuriy] who made the famous cakes at our pastry shop in Odesa – [it was] his first weekend – he went to the store and when he returned, his world was destroyed," Yakovenko said about the fateful day last year.

Yuriy lost his family when, on April 23, 2022, a Russian rocket struck the Tiras residential complex, killing his three-month-old daughter Kira, her mother Valeria, and her grandmother Lyudmila.

Following the tragedy, Yuriy joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, initially serving in the "Azov" unit before transferring to the 3rd Assault Brigade.

Oleg Kiper, head of the Odesa Military Administration, later corroborated this news, acknowledging Yuriy's loss.

“After his terrible loss, Yuriy joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Having lost the most precious things, he died protecting you and me. Eternal memory to a hero and sincere condolences to his family and friends," Kiper wrote.

The original missile strike on April 23, 2022, in Odesa resulted in the loss of eight lives, including Yuriy’s family.

The Russian Ministry of Defense attributed the strike to a “targeted attack on a logistics terminal at a military airfield,” where a significant quantity of foreign weapons was allegedly stored.

According to partisans, this transfer of equipment indicates a shortage of weapons in the Kursk sector, which is being compensated for by moving resources from currently less active frontline areas.
