Fifteen people were killed after Russian rockets fired through an apartment complex in Eastern Ukraine. This was revealed nearly 24 hours after the attack when emergency response workers began to urgently search for any survivors. This is the most recent instance of mass casualty amidst countless others which have taken the lives of thousands of innocent civilians.
The death toll is expected to rise according to Ukrainian officials who have revealed that more than 20 people are said to be buried beneath the debris in the town of Chasiv Yar.

Six survivors were pulled out from the wreckage from the debris pile with the most recent survivor being discovered after a whole day of intense digging. “There are 15 names in the list of the dead and, unfortunately, this is not the final number,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on Sunday, further arguing that the strike reveals how Russia “kills absolutely deliberately.”
The missile strike took place near the front lines of Ukraine’s Donetsk province part of the Donbas region, which saw an intense battle for ground there, after Russia had taken control of all neighboring area Luhansk.
Currently, Ukrainian authorities are preparing for severe fighting in the south of Ukraine, as they plan to take back control of territory from Russia. Residents of the Russian-held Kherson and Zaporizhzhia area have been urgently advised to evacuate by the Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereschcuck, who has said Ukrainian forces are due to “de-occupy” the area.
