North Korea has transferred a large consignment of weapons and ammunition to Russia, the White House has claimed.

"North Korea has supplied Russia with more than a thousand containers of military equipment and ammunition," the Associated Press quoted John Kirby, the Coordinator for Strategic Communications of the White House National Security Council, as saying during a press briefing on Friday.

The US presented a series of satellite images to the press showing the transfer of military equipment, Reuters reports.

The photographic evidence indicates that a Russian-flagged vessel facilitated the transportation of ammunition from North Korea to a Russian port.

Subsequently, the cargo was transported via rail to a storage facility situated near the southwestern border of Russia.

The reported delivery period spans from September 7 to October 1, according to Washington's findings.

By posting one of the satellite images displayed during the briefing, Fox News journalist Jacqui Heinrich revealed the delivery route.

"We condemn the DPRK for providing Russia with this military equipment, which will be used to attack Ukrainian cities, kill Ukrainian civilians, and continue the illegal war unleashed by Russia," Kirby said during the press briefing.

Back in early October, the analytical project Beyond Parallel reported a significant surge in cargo traffic between Russia and North Korea following Kim Jong-un's visit to Russia.
