The Oscar-winning American singer and actress Barbra Streisand recently displayed a ‘vyshyvanka’ embroidered shirt she received from United24, President Zelensky’s platform to support fund raising for Ukraine. This embroidered shirt features patterns from the Ternopil region, the homeland of her grandparents, which is one of only two exclusive shirts created by the Ukrainian brand ETNODIM; one for her and one to be auctioned for charity.

"I received a wonderful embroidered shirt from the government organization United24. It depicts the patterns of the Ternopil region, where my paternal grandparents come from. You can win the same embroidered shirt by making a donation for the reconstruction of a school in the village of Buzova. Let's help Ukrainian children return to school together: donorbox.org/vyshyvankas," Barbra shared on her Facebook page.

The American singer and actress has been supporting Ukraine since the start of the full-scale war, and recently donated $240,000 for medical aid. This happened during the summit, dedicated to the anniversary of the UNITED24 platform, of which she became an ambassador last year.

The two-time Oscar, Golden Globe, Emmy and Grammy award-winning actress has Ukrainian roots. Her paternal grandparents, Isaac and Anna Streisand, come from the Ukrainian villages of Buchach and Berezhany in Galicia. They migrated to the United States in search of a better life in the late nineteenth century. They met and got married in New York, where they worked hard, he as a tailor and she as a cook.

There were five children in the Streisand family. Barbra's father, Emmanuel Mendel Streisand, was their eldest son, who worked as a high school teacher but sadly died from epilepsy when he was only 35. Her mother, Diana, was a singer. It was not easy for the young mother to raise two small children, the family was in difficulty, but despite all the struggles, the girl from a poor family managed to become a world-famous actress, winning the highest awards in the fields of music and cinema and the affection of millions of viewers. The famous American woman does not forget about her Ukrainian roots and actively helps Ukraine whenever she can.
