In an interview with Reuters, European Commissioner for the Interior, Ylva Johansson, said that the issue of potential arms smuggling from Ukraine to the European Union was at the top of the list of topics she discussed during a meeting with the Minister of the Interior of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko, during her visit on May 11.
So far, there has been no evidence of the large-scale smuggling of weapons into the EU since Russia’s attack on Feb. 24, 2022.

"I must say that we have not seen any industrial smuggling of firearms out of Ukraine," European Home Affairs Commissioner Ylva Johansson said.
She reported that only isolated cases of the illegal export of small arms from Ukraine had been detected and recorded.
These incidents mostly concerned people trying to take weapons out as trophies or for personal protection, which are confiscated by Border guards, Johansson said.
Earlier, the EU confirmed that the information about the possible smuggling of weapons from Ukraine was yet another example of massive Russian propaganda.
