A two-year old boy was among 9 civilians killed on April 14 during Russian shelling of a high-rise block of buildings in the Donetsk regional city of Slovyansk.

The Donetsk Oblast Military Administration said on Facebook that 21 civilians were wounded in the area that is not considered a military target.

The child was pulled from the rubble alive by first-responders, but died in transit to medical facilities.

Despite abounding evidence to the contrary, Russia maintains that it doesn’t target civilian targets.

Pavlo Kyrylenko, the head of the Donetsk Oblast Military Administration, said that Russia had used S-300 rockets, which are commonly used for air defense and not land targets.

Five high-rise buildings were damaged, as well as five single-family homes, a store, an outdoor market and three passenger vehicles, he added.
