Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal has today met with Ukrainian Canadian diaspora representatives during his working visit to Canada.

Shmyhal undertook the meeting together with Canadian Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, who like 1.35 million other Canadians is of Ukrainian descent.
The meeting discussed Ukraine’s reconstruction and reform plans, the strengthening of sanctions by Canada against Russia, and the confiscation of frozen Russian-owned assets in Canada.
“Currently, all Ukrainians are completely united. Each one is working on ‘his/her own front’,” Shmyhal said to the gathering. “We need to speak with one, strong voice and call on the world for solidarity with Ukraine.”
The Ukrainian Prime Minister thanked the leaders of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, the peak body for the diaspora in Canada, and the Canadian-Ukrainian Foundation, as well as Canadian Deputy Prime Minister Freeland, for their support.
“Thanks to each and every one of you, Canada has been, is and will be the ideal strategic partner and friend of Ukraine,” Shmyhal said.
According to the Kiel Institute’s Ukraine Support Tracker, Canada is globally ranked 6th in overall support for Ukraine and 6th for specifically military support.
