Russia lost more troops last week than at any point of its full-scale invasion, according to Ukrainian military figures.
A record 6,180 troops were reportedly killed in the week Feb. 5-Feb. 12. The previous highest total was 5,800 recorded back in April last year. Other disastrous weeks for Russia occurred in June (5,050) and July (5,280).

The huge numbers are a result of an increase in Russia military operations in eastern Ukraine where a renewed Russian offensive is underway.

On Feb.13, according to Ukrainian Command, the highest losses Russia faced near Ugledar, Donetsk region.
"Near Ugledar and Marinka, a large number of enemy manpower, including commanding officers, have been destroyed. In addition, over the past week, the enemy has lost about 130 vehicles, including 36 tanks," said Defense Force spokesman Oleksiy Dmytrashkovsky told Politico.
According to Dmitrashkovsky, Russian troops were losing 150 to 300 marines a day near Ugledar and Russian troops continue to storm Ukrainian positions near Ugledar, Avdeevka, and Bakhmut.
The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), reported that Russian troops launched a major offensive in the Luhansk region on Feb.8. The pace of Russian operations along the Svatove-Kreminna line in western Luhansk region has increased significantly, analysts said.

"Russian sources are widely reporting that conventional Russian troops are attacking Ukrainian defensive lines and making marginal advances along the Kharkiv-Luhansk Oblast border, particularly northwest of Svatove near Kupyansk and west of Kreminna.," the analytical report says.
On Feb.13 Ukrainian Command reported that Russian attacks successfully repelled.
“Ukrainian troops repelled attacks by Russian troops near the towns of Hrianykivka in Kharkiv region, Kreminna and Bilohorivka in Luhansk region, Vyymka, Fedorivka, Vasyukivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske and Klishchiyivka in Donetsk region, and Zaliznychne in Zaporizhzhia” stated in the morning report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
